Join Rita Gupta for her first MBL “Financial Remedy Cases” webinar

Lights, camera, action! LGFL Director Rita Gupta is to present an accredited training webinar for legal professionals on “Financial Remedy Cases - Practical Tips for Family Lawyers” this November.
Rita was ‘head-hunted’ to present a webinar for MBL seminars, after they saw her in LGFL’s own series of short “top tips” videos. MBL were interested in Rita’s experience and expertise in family law to provide online training for legal professionals. Rita was a natural fit for their aim of recruiting “SWANs - people who are Smart, Work Hard, Ambitious and Nice.”!
Rita aims to provide something different for her first MBL webinar:
“As an experienced Practitioner, I find that online legal webinars often cover similar ground. Therefore, I wanted to present something different that highlighted strategies, rather than just an academic perspective.”

As Rita explains:
“With the changes in spousal maintenance, the increasing number of shared care arrangements and the rising cost of housing, this webinar will deliver essential practical tips on getting the best possible result for your client and in managing their expectations from the outset.”

Managing client expectations
From her own extensive experience in working with a diverse client base here at LGFL, Rita is acutely aware of the need to manage people’s expectations from the outset. During her webinar, she will share advice on how to assess what a client really wants (as opposed to what they might say they want!) and to offer realistic advice from the start. This includes the thorny issue of “who gets the house”.
She also will cover how to discuss realistic income and maintenance figures, discover the client’s capabilities for mortgages, income and capacity for work. She’ll reveal how to use these facts and figures to strategically plan a client’s case, and also to conduct a regular cost/benefit analysis for your client to ensure actions taking are worthwhile financially.
Professional training for legal professionals
Rita’s webinar is aimed at the Intermediary level, for legal professionals with existing knowledge of the subject area. As Rita explains:
“As practitioners we are all familiar with the Matrimonial Causes Act 1973 and the section 25 criteria but learning how to apply the principles practically in the context of a modern family is essential.”
Rita will share examples from her experience and keen observations to help legal teams apply the knowledge they gain from the webinar in their everyday practice and work with existing and future clients.
Accredited training for CPD
Rita’s seminar is accredited for CPD purposes, and carries a credit of 1.25 CPD hours from The Institute of Paralegals. It also has a SRA Competency Level B for Technical Legal Practice.
